Global Consortium hold Talks with Chief Secretary, Gilgit Baltistan to Enhance Education Delivery in the Region
19th March 2023, Gilgit Baltistan: Global Consortium consisting of Google for Education, PB Tech and Tech Valley Pakistan team had an online meeting with Chief Secretary, Gilgit Baltistan and his office on Sunday. The talks aimed to enhance the education landscape of Gilgit Baltistan by exploring customized Google for Education offerings paired with PB Tech technologies.
Mr. Mohyuddin Wani, Chief Secretary of Gilgit Baltistan applauded the efforts of Tech Valley Pakistan on successfully closing the pilot project on Google for Education. The project trained teachers on Google for Education tools, which will help in transforming the current teaching and learning practices. The meeting also included other notable officials including Secretary Finance, Secretary Education, Deputy Director EMIS, Deputy Secretary Education
and Commissioner Diamer Division.
Moreover, the Chief Secretary also expressed his excitement towards the establishment of a Google’s Center of Excellence in Gilgit Baltistan where teachers will be trained on digitizing their curriculum, integrating teaching practices with technology, and leveraging subject-oriented applications. This project will be a step towards making education accessible and technologically advanced in the region.
Efforts by local and global connectivity partners are also being made in exploring opportunities to enhance connectivity for schools in Gilgit Baltistan, which will help in bridging the digital divide and improving internet accessibility in the region. Goverment of Gilgit Baltistan has also shown keen interest in conducting roadshows and activities to transform the education sector of Gilgit Baltistan.
The visit of Google for Education, PB Tech, and Tech Valley Pakistan team is a continued engagement towards making Gilgit Baltistan a priority in the field of education and technology. The government looks forward to more collaborations with the tech giants in the future to make education and technology accessible to all in the region.
